This is now my favourite restaurant and will be telling everyone I know to visit. Had a lovely Friday lunch here, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The staff are friendly and the food and drinks are wonderful. We had 3 courses and they were all well balanced and tasty with my favourite being the chocolate ale cake with caramel miso sauce and muscavodo ice cream. I would keep going back just for that dessert! My husband loved the cocktails including the Japanese sour cocktail which was just one example of the great and interesting selection of cocktails available. Definitely visit again as soon as we can.
We had a very enjoyable stop over in Poundbury on the way to the West Dorset coast and a first class meal and experience in The Square Bistro. Will definitely visit again.
An absolutely brilliant restaurant offering a lovely range of delicious meals, with focus on local Dorset ingredients. The three course set menu is definitely worth the money, and I found each course to be very delicious! Even though this is described as a “bistro”, the dishes do come off as quite complex and the restaurant certainly offers fine dining. The drinks on offer were also very lovely, and the servers were helpful and friendly. Overall, our meal was an entirely positive experience and this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
The art of flavours…We visited The Square Bistro on Valentine’s Day. I was surprised by my loved partner. As a former chef with many years of experience, I would like to say this is an amazing, outstanding and delicious place of flavours, especially the combinations of sauces with meat and fish. For a starter we had fish and for a main meal the Steak. Both dishes were a surprise of discovery of taste and aromas. It’s not just the food. Everything was at the very professional level from welcoming to looking after you during the dinner and of course the food. I sincerely will recommend this place for any occasions. What a fantastic place. We had lunch today from a 2 or 3 course menu. A lovely variety on the menu, it was so hard to decide what to have. Each dish was a flavour bomb, looked amazing and the whole experience was superb. Lee and staff have a gem of a bistro. Will definitely come again.
Today my friend and I found this little gem of a Bistro by accident, and oh my the food was perfection! The food is all local produce and it was just beautiful tasting. We had come from Bournemouth and we will defo be coming back! Totally recommend this place!
Amazing food at decent prices. Great service too. The place itself is okay, nothing fancy but also nothing to complain about either. Would have happily come back to eat here if I'd been around longer.
I have dined here at lunchtime two or three times now. Good food, welcoming atmosphere and personal service. This week I'd booked lunch but under pressure from illness within the family simply forgot to tell the Bistro. They called me ten minutes after I should have been there, no edge, no criticism just status enquiry. I explained, they were so understanding, indeed so kind. This was old fashioned well mannered customer care. I look forward to eating there again as soon as circumstances permit. The Square Bistro deserves it's many, many 5 star ratings
